Review Quickies
I've never heard of younger people rooming with older people but it makes sense especially in a place like NYC. So when Ms. Schorr announced this book, I was definitely intrigued at how it would play out. Adam and Sabrina are adorable in their will they or won't they chemistry but you know they will but in that lies complications neither of them foresaw. Marcia is a ton of fun and knows when to lay down the law and when to let them figure it out. It's the perfect summer book and I read it in 2 days.
So it does seem like every romance book is set in NYC and while I get that, can someone write one in Chicago? I mean it has just as much to offer as NYC (don't come at me, NYers). That being said this one has much more spice than I was expecting but it was also very sweet and insightful. I mean you know right away that Elle is going to give in to her attraction to Parker even though she insists she hates him. It's the whole "thin line between love and hate." Another quick read for me and definitely a great summer book.

Sunday Skim
Finished:
Uh woah, it's been a hot minute since I've done a Sunday Skim, so you guys are in for a little bit of an update. 😀
When work has been so busy with meetings that you can't make it through your audiobook and you have to put it back on a hold; my story with The Nightingale. Yes, I realize I'm about 10 years late to the party. Sarah Adams' is quickly becoming a have to read author and I'm not even done with her When in Rome series. Then there is the final book of the Windy City Series and I'm sad to be seeing these characters go. At least I know they will all be happy.
Aftertaste is worth all the buzz and hype. This book is unique and so special that I implore you to read it, even if it's not your usual genre.

That's a lot up there for the last 3 weeks. I can hardly believe we are into May!! Time flies. I'm hoping the weather gets better so I can read in my hammock.

Review Quickies
This is the last of the Drive Me Home series and I will definitely miss these characters. I do not watch F1 and know absolutely nothing about it, other than apparently the men are super hot. That did not take away from the enjoyment of the series because it's about the relationships. This one focuses on Lucas Adler and Charlotte Walker, who is the younger sister of Theo Walker, which of course you know is going to cause some issues. I loved both of these characters and the Type 1 diabetes representation in it. It's always fun when the couples from the last 2 books in the series make appearances. If you love a good contemporary romance novel, you won't want to miss this series.
Not quite sure where to start with this one other than it's not for the faint of heart. It is a dark romantic comedy with an emphasis on dark. I will say that it is funny, clever and surprisingly sweet (at times). I thought the first one in the Ruinous Love Trilogy was a lot of fun but this one was even more so. Lachlan and Lark might be my new favorite couple of the series and I didn't think anything would match Rowan and Sloane. This is a wild ride and well the ending will might leave you a bit shocked. I definitely say read this but it comes with a lot of warnings and you shouldn't skip them.
I've seen Sarah Adams' name on IG a lot and even followed her before I bought and read one of her novel. I will tell you, I'm hooked. This was just an absolute delight and if you are into closed door romances, definitely pick this one up. I love a good grumpy/sunshine romance when only she can melt his heart. Amelia and Noah have the perfect meet cute, which leads into close proximity. Throw in a small town, nosy neighbors and sisters and you have me hooked. This is the first in a trilogy about some of the Walker siblings. If you are looking for a fun, quick read then look no further.

Summary: Dolores dela Cruz has been dying to spot one in the wild, and he fits the mold perfectly: strangler gloves, calculated charm, dashing good looks that give a leg up in any field . . . including fields of unmarked graves. The new office temp is definitely a serial killer. Jake Ripper finds a welcome distraction in his combative and enigmatic new coworker. He hasn’t come across anyone as interesting as Dolores in a long time. But when mere curiosity evolves into a darkly romantic flirtation, Jake can’t help but wonder if, finally, he’s found someone who really sees him, skeletons in the closet and all.
Until Dolores asks Jake’s help to dispose of a body . . . ~amazon.comReview: Honestly, this book doesn't fit into any one genre and it wasn't at all what I expected in the best way. I really don't want to say too much because it will give away the plot but I can't believe this is a debut. Dolores and Jake are fun characters; the back and forth between them had me in stitches. Jake definitely fell first but I would say that Dolores "Dolly" fell harder. I mean Jake is all kinds of green flags and maybe just one red flag.
Ms. Posey takes a rom-com, true crime, drama and puts a whole new spin on it. There are a lot of themes in this book but I came away with thinking about found family and what it means to be a family, because it's not always blood relations. The secondary characters are a hoot and add a lot of color to the novel. I also loved the corporate aspect since that is where I have spent my career. I will definitely be aware of temps from now on. 🤣
If this one isn't on your radar, please put it there. I don't think you'll be disappointed. It definitely kept me turning the pages until the very end. I can't wait to see what Ms. Posey writes next because I'm positive it'll be a fresh take on something.

Sunday Skim
Quite the variety this week. Knocked some books off the good ole' TBR pile/shelf and listened to some as well. The tie of the favorite of the week was Drive Me Home and Serial Killer Games obviously very different plots but both realy well done.
